WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University will join Ohio State University at the 45th Farm Science Review on Sept. 18-20 at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center in London, Ohio.
"This is the third year that Purdue and Ohio State have partnered for this event," said Danica Kirkpatrick, events and educational activities coordinator at Purdue. "The partnership was developed between OSU and Purdue to complement each other's work in agricultural research and extension."
The Farm Science Review will provide visitors with the latest information and research in agriculture production, management and technology. There also will be many vendors and exhibits with live field demonstrations.
Exhibits and presentations by Purdue specialists include:
* Jerry Nelson, Purdue's New Ventures Team co-chair and Purdue Extension educator, will explain developing successful farmer grant proposals.
* Jim True, Purdue Extension educator, will address starting a small apple orchard.
* Rick Foster, professor of entomology and assistant program leader for Purdue Extension agriculture and natural resources, will discuss organic apple production.
* Roy Ballard, Purdue Extension educator, and Sarah Yeager of the Indiana Department of Agriculture will review marketing your agri-tourism enterprise and developing advertising.
* Other Purdue Extension specialists will conduct educational classes at the Gwynne Conservation Area and offer courses in conjunction with the certified crop adviser program.
In addition to the events during the Farm Science Review, the Purdue Agricultural Alumni Association will sponsor an alumni dinner at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18. The review opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 19, and is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20. Tickets are $8 at the gate or $5 in advance if purchased at Ohio State Extension offices. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. The Molly Caren Agricultural Center is located approximately 154 miles from the Indiana State line on Interstate 70.
