Millin ', Chillin', and Grillin'

Come join us in the Utzinger Garden during Farm Science Review.  Each day will have speakers in the gazebo and Master Gardeners millin' around to answer your garden questions.  In addition, on Wednesday, there will be a live musical group, so come on in and chill out in the shade and enjoy the music.  Also appearing on this day will be Ron Wilson from the Cincinnati market from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and Tom McNutt from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Come and visit with these local TV personalities.  On Thursday, a local chef will be grillin' some seasonal vegetables and fruit on the grill.  Stop in and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and have a nibble of tasty treats.   It is also a great place to pick up some gardening ideas to take home, meet old friends, and just enjoy yourself.

The Farm Bill Debate
10-11 a.m.  Tuesday, September 18, 2006
Tobin Building, Molly Caren Center
Hosted by OSU Agricultural, Environmental & Development Economics

Our annual Farm Science Review discussion of policy and economics takes a look at current negotiations on the Farm Bill and related policy.  Come discuss the issues with a panel of policy analysts from Ohio State and Purdue.  Expect some analysis, some predictions, and probably an argument or two.  Ian Sheldon moderates a panel of three policy professors who aim to give public officials, farmers, and industry leaders tools for analyzing current farm bill proposals and participating in the process.

Energy Education Tent
New at this year’s Review is the Energy Education Tent.  Located in Alumni Park, it features educational and informational displays from Ohio State, Purdue, and organizations/agencies with similar educational missions.  A number of sessions at the nearby Question the Authorities program will be addressing the economics of energy markets, conservation, and new technologies.  Then, the speakers will be available in the Energy Tent for “energetic” informal bull sessions related to today’s critical energy issues.  The idea is to make this area a gathering point for those interested in “energetic” discussion.  Some very visible energy-related technology should make this tent impossible to miss.
