Farm Science Review media credentials available

LONDON, Ohio—This year’s Farm Science Review from Sept. 21–23 offers numerous events, exhibits, and presentations of interest to members of the media. 

Sponsored by The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES), the annual farm show in its 59th year takes place at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center near London, Ohio. The event draws more than 100,000 people. 

Media members will need tickets to get in and parking passes for the news media lot. For those, please sign up by Aug. 27 by visiting go.osu.edu/fsrmediapasses.

The requested number of admission tickets and parking passes will be mailed to you in early September.

  • The Talk on Friday Avenue, formerly known as the Tobin Talk, will be “Carbon Markets: From All Sides Now.” The panel discussion will be on carbon markets from an economic, legal, agricultural, and environmental perspective. It will be moderated by Ian Sheldon, CFAES professor and Andersons Chair of Agricultural Marketing. Speakers will include Brent Sohngen, a CFAES professor of natural resources and environmental economics; Peggy Hall, a CFAES agricultural and resource law field specialist; Luke Crumley, director of public policy and nutrient management for the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association; and Jessica D’Ambrosio, Ohio agriculture project director for The Nature Conservancy. 
  • More than 100 educational sessions on a range of topics will include protecting livestock from toxins and poisonous plants; farming in rain, drought, and other weather challenges; Ohio’s tree laws; developing a niche for your small farm operation; building soil carbon for the backyard garden; and the mental health benefits of gardening.
  • Also included are 600 exhibits, comprehensive field crop demonstrations, and a career exploration fair. 
  • Immersive virtual reality videos of agricultural activities ranging from crop dusting to tree felling will also be presented.
